Why use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light?

Crystal Serum Light is the prosumer version of the world famous Gtechniq Accredited Detailer Crystal Serum Ultra. It offers 80% of professional Serum Ultra’s performance, but if applied incorrectly can be machine polished from your vehicles paintwork.

When it comes to adding gloss, resisting swirls, contaminant and dirt repellency, Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and Serum Light are the pinnacle in paint protection.

illustration1.jpg Serum Light forms an ultra- durable, high-gloss, slick to the touch, chemically bonding inorganic layer of 9h optically clear ceramic.  Once applied, gloss levels will remain in the upper 90th percentile for significantly longer when compared to traditional paint protection products, and cleaning your car will be a breeze.
illustration2.jpg The high density ceramic layer is resistant to chemicals ranging from pH2 – pH12.  This characteristic also makes bonded contaminants such as tree sap, tar, and hard water spots, easy to remove.

Unlike mainstream wax and organic polymer coatings, Serum and Serum Light can resist much higher and lower temperatures.  They resist temperatures as low as -40o to as high as +250°c.

Crystal Serum Light comes with a 5 year guarantee when applied by a Gtechniq Accredited Detailer.

Storage and Use:-

  • To apply Crystal Serum Light (CSL) make sure your vehicle is indoors and can stay indoors for 12 hours after application, do not apply in direct sunlight
  • Only apply the product at a temperature between 5°c and 25°c
  • Shake well and wear gloves
  • Wash and decontaminate your paintwork thoroughly prior to application. If required, polish your paintwork, either by machine or hand, to remove any imperfections
  • Spray Panel Wipe into a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre Cloth and wipe down each panel in small sections
  • Soak the application pad with 3 full measures of CSL from the pipette and work the liquid into the pad to get an even saturation
  • Replace the lid on the bottle and set aside – do not keep the bottle in your hand as this promotes premature curing
  • Apply in overlapping strokes to an area roughly 2ft by 2ft, or work to the body lines of the vehicle
  • Immediately remove residue with an MF1 cloth – you may need to buff the same area several times, but avoid doing it with too much force. We recommend the use of 2 cloths at any one time. Make sure the cloths are rotated during residue removal to prevent CSL curing in the cloth – this can make buffing residue difficult
  • Inspect the surface for residue with a bright, diffused light source
  • If you remove residue and it cures fully you should polish the area and reapply CSL
  • As soon as you finish, put your MF1 cloths in water, wash and dry them as soon as possible
  • Wait approximately 2 hours after applying CSL to apply EXO Ultra Durable Hydrophobic Coating, or C2 Liquid Crystal
  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Use within 3 months of opening

Gtechniq’s Roots

Gtechniq Logo 01Gtechniq was founded by quantum physicist Drew Gill in 2001, out of a total dissatisfaction with the performance of paint protection products at the time. Everything from waxes, to new-fangled polymers and PTFE based miracle treatments, nothing on the market offered any meaningful durability, either in looks, or protection. Worse still, he found that most of the products actually performed poorer than the paints they were supposed to protect. From this discontent came a simple idea, ‘To engineer the world’s most beautiful, perfectly finished, smartest and most intelligent surfaces. Surfaces that do much more than simply look great when new.’ Drew’s background meant that he had a good understanding of how the forces, shapes and structures of a surface works on very small scales. He also knew what modifications may be possible in order to add some really useful enhancements. Improvements such as dirt repellency, ease of washing, scratch, UV and stain resistance, along with, long-term gloss and colour stability. So, after surveying many avenues of material science, in particular nano-scale surface engineering, lots of hard work and many thousands of failures, Gtechniq, Smart Surface Science was born. The first product in the Gtechniq range to be produced was C1 Crystal Lacquer, closely followed by P1 Nano Composite Polish. In 2006, Rob Earle became managing director of Gtechniq Ltd, taking over the reins from Drew. Rob’s passion for cars, boats and detailing in his spare time, gave him the enthusiasm to develop Gtechniq, testing new boundaries. He innovated and developed the products Drew had created, plus a whole lot more besides. Rob worked hard using forums such as Detailing World to develop Gtechniq’s reputation. Sending products to detailers and car care enthusiasts for testing and review, and letting the products speak for themselves. After opening a Detailing Centre in Kings Langley, which proved extremely successful, demand grew for Gtechniq. And the first Gtechniq website was launched selling products mail order across the globe. At the start of 2012 the conscious decision was made to close the detailing side of the business and to concentrate solely on product development and manufacturing. In order to do this, the business moved to new premises in Towcester, Northamptonshire. After nine months, a fire caused a major setback to Gtechniq, burning the new building and its contents to the ground. This did not deter Rob and his team of dedicated staff who work hard to rebuild the business – manufacturing more products and using a friend’s barn to store and package products for distribution. Following the fire, the business moved to a new home on the Pury Hill Business Park, Towcester, and continued to flourish. Over the last 10 years, Gtechniq’s products have been continually improved to provide a range that outshines and outlasts the competition. Rob has built a fresh, innovative brand, different to any other available on the market. Gtechniq’s line of surface preparation and finishing products are designed to perfect, protect and maintain all automotive, marine and aviation exteriors and interiors in a way no traditional products can match. To date, the Gtechniq range includes composite ceramic coatings, leather protection, fabric protection, wheel and trim protection, shampoos and much more.
